Visit dry dock brewing co.
The brewery was Aurora, Colorado’s first when owners Kevin DeLange and Michelle Reding opened with a 7 BBL brewhouse in a 900-square-foot space in 2005.
How long have you been brewing? I have been homebrewing for 10 years, give or take a few.
What is your favorite beer style to make? A Pale Ale is forgiving, easy and always nice to drink. Though I did make a killer Baltic Porter last year – oh yeah!
Are you a member of any brew clubs or organizations? None yet. Probably could learn more if I were. My wife is my club and biggest fan!
Have you won any medals or awards? I have not entered anything into a judgement yet, maybe this year’s wine – we will see.
Describe your brewing system or equipment. All about simple! A brew kettle and a mash tun, too much to clean if too complicated. Wine is trash barrels (not used for trash) for primary then moved to carboys. KIS: Keep It Simple!
What piece of equipment has made the most difference in your beer? I try to keep it simple but the tools that allow for easy racking and packaging have been my greatest friends. YouTube has also has some influence into my brewing and wine making.
What other fermented beverage have you made? Sticking to beer and wine for now, but have a strong desire to make distilled spirits – I mean oils.
Do you have any other hobbies or special interests? I play bass in a cover band, Dam Hoover and various other bands around town.
Is there anything else that you would like to share about yourself? I am not much of a craft brewer. There are so many good recipes our there, I cant compete with that! I look at clone recipes and do what I can with them; not trying to reinvent the wheel, I just enjoy the process and the result.
