The brewery was Aurora, Colorado’s first when owners Kevin DeLange and Michelle Reding opened with a 7 BBL brewhouse in a 900-square-foot space in 2005.
How long have you been brewing? Approximately 10 years, with all grain consuming 6 of those years (Really every waking moment), So in dog years I should be a brewmaster, but sadly I’m not.
What is your favorite beer style to make? Belgians are my favorite style to make as their carefree use of ingredients and fermentation options fit my personality. Currently, I’m leaning towards session beers which have no style parameters.
Are you a member of any brew clubs or organizations? I’m a member of AHA and the current Events Officer for the Rock Hoppers Brew Club.
Describe your brewing system or equipment. I’m currently brewing on a Sabco Brew Magic which was an amazing score off Craigslist. I ferment using a glycol chilled Ss Brewtech unitank which allows me to brew up to 10-gallon batches.
List any medals or special accomplishments. Over the years I have received several medals ranging from Gold, Silver and Bronze at the Colorado State Fair, with this year being especially rewarding having captured a best of show mead, and being named the “Heavy Medal Brewer”. Another surreal honor was a GABF Pro-Am entry this year as a result of winning the best of show beer at the Half Penny Brewing competition
Do you have any other hobbies or special interests? I’m an avid audio/video enthusiast and have designed my own home theater. This hobby possibly has taken more of my time than brewing! I have also remodeled several homes.
